25 years ago we, the two sisters Marleen and Katelijne Beernaert, started an antique shop in Antwerp: De Zilveren Beer.

What started as a passion grew into a real store. We go for trinkets and objects that have a soul and a history, unique pieces that radiate the feeling of a warm home.

Every three weeks we travel to England and Scotland, Italy or France, looking for old objects that belong in the collection of our antique store, De Zilveren Beer.

We both received an education in archeology and art history at the KU Leuven and further expanded our interest. Katelijne for more than ten years as an assistant curator at the Museums of Bruges, specialized in restoration of wood and porcelain. Marleen as a history teacher, further specialized in silver and paper restoration.
