Mauchline ware
Mauchlin is a village in Scotland where small wooden objects were produced from boxwood. The small but always fine and functional objects were souvenirs and gifts. So often you will find a tourist attraction depictured on the boxes. .
Snuff boxes, needle sleeves, stamp boxes, napkin rings, money boxes ... were produced.
In 1840, the production reached its peak and 400 people worked in the industry. The production ended in the 1930s.
The boxes and cups shown are max. 8 cm high.
